On Saturday 28th, the railway's ‘Steam Glow’ event at Stonehenge will provide an opportunity to photograph up to five 0-4-0T locomotives in steam in this historic and unique sand-industry setting. The locomotives will be positioned to take full advantage of the Leighton Buzzard Railway’s extensive collection of wagons and sand industry equipment, including the RB-10 excavator.

A special train hauled by the newly restored Andrew Barclay 0-6-0T ‘Doll’ will leave Pages Park station at 18.30 so, with sunset at 17.40 all should be fully dark by the time the train arrives at 18.55. The train will return to Pages Park at 21.00. ‘Chaloner’, ‘Rishra’ and ‘P C Allen’ will also be returning to Pages Park, providing further night-time photographic opportunities along the line. The special train is the only public service operating on Saturday 28th and the railway recommend advance booking to guarantee your seat on this train. There is no public parking available at Stonehenge. Discounted fares are available for accompanied younger photographers aged 10 – 17 and accompanied under 10’s ride free.

Visiting locomotives at the event will include Phil Mason’s recently restored 1909-built Kerr Stuart Sirdar class 0-4-0T ‘Diana’ and 'Jennie', a Wren class locomotive as originally built by Kerr Stuart, but actually made by Hunslet Steam at their works at Statfold Barn near Tamworth in 2008.

LBR's homefleet on show will be the the iconic De Winton 0-4-0 VB loco Chaloner built in 1877, the unique Baguley Cars Rishra locomotive built in 1921 and Orenstein and Koppel 0-4-0WT “P C Allen” built in1913.

The second day of the event on Sunday 29th is Small Engines Day, which will see some of these locomotives operating a special timetable of services along the line. ‘Diana’ and ‘Chaloner’ are planned to double head the 1030, 1220 and 1410 departures, with ‘PC Allen’ and ‘Jennie’ on the 1125, 1315 and 1505.
