The Peppercorn 4-6-2 engine will run from March 3-11 (except March 9th) and offer services up and down the NYMR line from Grosmont to Pickering station.

New-build Tornado has been impressing steam enthusiasts since it was built back in 2008, and even hit the 100mph mark earlier this year when it undertook test runs in connection with raising its permitted maximum speed.

Steam train rides, guest locos and cab access experiences will be available at the event, with Furness Railway No. 20  also hauling passenger trains on the museum's demonstration line throughout the weekend. 

Flying Scotsman will be joined at the Autumn Steam Gala event by another special guest locomotive, BR Standard Class 2MT No. 78018. The event will mark 50 years since the initial formal meeting held in October 1967 which led to the formation of the preservation society and will see the largest assembly of locomotives since the twenty-fifth anniversary celebrations at the LBR in 1992.

A special train service will be in operation each day with nine departures from Page’s Park to Stonehenge Works and the railway plans to have ten steam locos in action, four of which are over 100 years old.

The event was due to take place on September 30 at Corfe Castle on the Swanage Railway, with Oliver Bulleid's grandson in attendance, to celebrate the Light Pacific engine's return but Southern Locomotives ltd have been forced to re-schedule the event.

The locomotive is ready to steam but new rulings have been brought in which require further tests on the boiler so that the locomotive can be passed for insurance reasons.

While the naming ceremony itself is by invitation only, the railway is offering public travel services aboard the Suburban Carriage set whilst being hauled by the M&GN's freshly named locomotive which has just undergone a lengthy 8 year overhaul.

This year has seen both the Suburban 4 carriage set and WD No. 90775 complete major overhauls, all of which have been undertaken by volunteers and staff from the North Norfolk Railway’s Engineering and Carriage Works.

The £600,000 proposed development, which is being led by Bury based Equilibrium Architects, will see Rawtenstall Station redeveloped to provide enhanced facilities for not only visitors to the East Lancashire Railway but the local community too.
