The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust has therefore set itself the challenge of raising £210,000 through The Motion Club from 175 supporters each donating £1,000 (plus Gift Aid) to the project in up to eight payments of £125 by standing order.

Baldwin at Leighton Buzzard

The steam locomotive is the 1917-bult Baldwin number 778. This loco served on the Western Front during the First World War, and ultimately ended its working career in a sugar mill in India (after many adventures!). It came to the UK in 1985, and after a laborious restoration, was returned to steam in 2007. It normally works passenger trains at Leighton Buzzard, but has also visited many other railways.
