The A1 Steam Locomotive Trust, also the builders, owners and operators of 100mph famous new steam locomotive No. 60163 Tornado, has announced that it will again be holding a number of presentations on the project to build new Gresley class P2 No. 2007 Prince of Wales in 2019. Entry into each roadshow is free with the first at the Great Northern Hotel, Peterborough on Saturday 12th January 2019.

Following a heavy overhaul and re-painted in its Brunswick Green livery, the LMS Stanier 'Jubilee Class' 4-6-0 will be returning to the Worth Valley and, for the first time in 25 years, will run on the mainline with seats available for the general public.

The railtour is being promoted by Keighley & Worth Valley Railway in partnership with Bahamas Locomotive Society, 'Bahamas' will run from Oxenhope to Carlisle and return on Saturday 9th February 2019.

This will be the final gala appearance for 70013 "Oliver Cromwell" (appearing courtesy of the National Railway Museum) before its overhaul. The gala will also feature five other locomotive, including one diesel engine.

Joining 70013 will be Stanier Class 5 45305 (returning to traffic following repair - subject to completion), 92214 "Leicester City", Stanier 8F 48624, BR Standard Class 5 73156 and diesel locomotive Class 45 "Peak" D123.

The line opened originally in 1872 providing a service to its rural community for 86 years, and 2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the closure.
 
But, unlike most now closed West Country rural branch lines which succumbed to the infamous Beeching Axe of the 1960's, this one had a much brighter and interesting future. The season gets under way from the weekend of 1st December with more than 70 trains scheduled to take excited youngsters and their families to meet Father Christmas. More than half of seats are already taken while some are already fully booked.

Appearing at the two-day ‘Somerset and Dorset Weekend’ event will be three classes of steam locomotives that worked on the former main line that linked Bournemouth and Poole with Blandford Forum, Templecombe and Bath. The 102-mile line was closed in March, 1966, with the tracks being lifted between 1967 and 1970.
