The first of our new DVDs features as its ‘lost lines’ section the much-mourned Liverpool Overhead Railway — or Docker’s Umbrella as it was popularly known — which was finally closed in 1956 and dismantled thereafter.

The Ffestiniog Railway marks 150 years of passenger train operation. The first passenger trains operated in 1865.

The National Network — indeed all of Britain’s railways — have an enviable safety record; indeed no passenger has been killed in a train accident on the National Network for almost a decade and the era of Clapham Junction, Hatfield and Potters Bar, to name but three significant accidents of the 1980s and 1990s, is now, thankfully, behind us.
