Hundreds of steam fans turned out in chilly conditions last weekend to catch several big name locomotives in action at Loughborough for the Great Central Railway’s annual Winter Gala. Held on the last weekend of January, the event is one of GCR’s two major galas for the year, and one of the first major events on the steam calendar for 2016. Unseen Steam was there to get a glimpse of the two guest locos – Battle of Britain Class Sir Keith Park and U Class No. 31806 – and chat to GCR’s general manager Richard Patching about plans for an exciting new railway museum.
