Flying North, 60103 at Garsdale

Editors Notes:

The "most famous steam locomotive in the world" was used on Saturday 22nd December to head the last main-line steam excursion of 2018 from Manchester Victoria to Hellifield then over the Settle & Carlisle line to Carlisle, returning via Shap. On its northward journey we see the engine (no. 60103 "Flying Scotsman" of course!) as it approaches Garsdale over the level track on which was once sited the line's water troughs, and then passing over the viaduct at the north end of the station. The wind here, in December, can be bitter and very loud!
