In amongst the excitement of returns to the main lines there is also good news to report off of them. On 16th February 2019 the Severn Valley Railway's BR Standard Class 4 4-6-0 no 75069 is seen at Bewdley at the head of its first public run since a complete overhaul was finished last December. Now boasting a gleaming coat of BR Mixed Traffic fully-lined black paint the engine was (slightly coyly) hiding behind a strategically positioned set of engineers wagons which made a full-on shot virtually impossible. Nevertheless, as it passes the camera its full glory is seen. This engine was, of course, one of the Southern Region Standards and thus has a high-capacity BR1B tender; as such, it always wore this livery in BR days although, in preservation, it was previously turned out in Brunswick Green as was seen on Western-allocated machines. It also was a main-line registered machine in the 1980s and 90s.
