Editors Notes:
On 4th November 1967 the last of the celebrated Stanier "Jubilee" class locomotives, no 45562, was withdrawn from BR service. Just 4 weeks earlier it had made the class' final run, southbound, over the S&C. Recreated by courtesy of sister engine "Galatea" and West Coast Railways at Carnforth the spectral 45562 is seen once again backing down onto a train on Saturday 14th March 2020. Little did anyone know that day that this would also be a "last run" as this train, diverted to run over the S&C instead of the booked Cumbrian Coast line, would prove to be the last main line steam run for the foreseeable future due to the outbreak of the Corona Virus pandemic. Perhaps some of those who travelled on that train back in 1967 would have been enjoying a rather different, fizzy, Corona!
