Our title is not a dig at our current PM but refers to the solo journeys in Scotland made by David Buck's Thompson B1 4-6-0 no 61306 "Mayflower" during the recent Steam Dreams' "Highlands & Islands Explorer". On Saturday 11th May 2019 the engine headed a diesel-free train from Inverness onto the Far North line as far as Dunrobin where the passengers detrained to visit Dunrobin Castle, which is seen on the coast as the empty stock was taken forward to Brora. The following day saw the same train going, again from Inverness, to the Kyle of Lochalsh and we see it amongst the stunning scenery alongside Loch Sgamhain. Finally, on the Monday, the engine said its farewell to Inverness, this time with a class 37 diesel at the rear, taking the passengers from the Highland Capital via the Glasgow suburbs to Fort William in the West Highlands. We see this train hammering through Dunkeld & Birnham station non-stop.
