The Ffestiniog and Welsh Highland railways' annual Spring highlight in the form of "The Snowdonian" train covering both railways for 80 miles of steam took place on Saturday 13th April in 2019. Sadly the date cast its evil spell over the event as a fire on the line caused the train to be delayed for around 90 minutes at Tan-y-Bwlch on the return from Blaenau Ffestiniog and its termination at Waunfawr on the journey to Caernarfon. The first part, on the Ffestiniog , saw "Linda" and "Blanche" head up to Blaenau and we see a very slippery start by the sisters at Tan-y-Bwlch. The two L&B replicas took over at Boston Lodge to run in tandem for the first time on these railways and we see them heading west at Beddgelert Cemetry and then, on their return from Waunfawr, in the lea of Snowdon itself, still with patches of snow visible. The sun was glorious but the weather was bitter and the gale-force winds horrendous at times!
