There was considerable excitement in Scottish railway enthusiast circles at the beginning of November when the Caledonian Railway McIntosh 0-4-4 tank no. 419 was returned to service following a long overhaul at Bo'ness, resplendent in a fresh coat of the celebrated Caledonian Blue livery. It's said there were nearly as many variations in the hue of that colour as there were Caley locomotives and this was shown on the only other working ex-Caley loco, the Strathspey Railway's "Jumbo" goods engine no. 828 which visited for the occasion, the first time in preservation that the two have met. A Gala weekend was followed by no less than five days of charters, and here we see both locos in action.
